A collaborative project from Melbourne Australia co-led by singer-songwriter Paddy Mann of legendary Melbourne alt-folk group, Grand Salvo, and progressive composer, sound artist, trumpeter, Peter Knight (Artistic Director of the Australian Art Orchestra). Featuring leading experimental/new jazz musicians: Erik Griswold prepared piano and toy piano, Vanessa Tomlinson percussion, Andrew Brooks saxophone, Joe Talia drums/Revox B77.
This is music that is impossible to categorise: strange but accessible, abstracted but also melodic. Music that exists in the meeting point between folk-pop and nu-jazz/improv/sound art…
Eponymously titled album out on Hellosquare in June 2015. Available via limited edition vinyl with sleeve art by Adam J. Bragg, and on CD. launching at Capital Jazz Project, Street Theatre, Canberra June 6th and Melbourne Recital Centre (date TBA).
